MEET THE CHAIRS
Committee overview
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, responsible for resolving legal disputes between countries using international law. In this committee, delegates will focus on maritime boundary disputes, which occur when countries disagree over who has rights and jurisdiction over areas of the ocean.

These conflicts involve fishing rights, oil and mineral extraction, navigation, and access to valuable marine resources. Using international law, delegates will work to resolve overlapping maritime claims while balancing countries’ economic interests with the protection and sustainable use of marine ecosystems.
